Two Thousand Strong

Many men died by their hands

Before they knew their savior’s name.

Mercy came into their lives

And Jesus Christ removed their shame.

No longer wanting to shed blood

They buried all their weapons deep.

Their hearts were changed because of Christ

And covenants they would always keep.

Many gave their lives one day

As enemies came to take their lives.

They knelt instead of shedding blood

For they had buried all their knives.

Even though many lives were lost

That act alone changed many a heart.

More hearts were changed than lives were lost

Because they chose from sin to part.

For many years they lived in peace

Until the Lamanites returned.

Those that buried their sins and swords

For the love of Christ was all they yearned.

Their righteous sons made no such pact

They chose to fight to save their kin.

They had been taught to trust the Lord

They knew the pain that comes from sin.

Helaman took them as sons.

He trained them in the ways of war.

Two thousand boys soon became men

They fought like lions from their core.

Not one of them were spared from pain

But not one life of theirs was lost.

God kept his word to spare their lives

The faith of parents was worth the cost.

Eternal Praise

Long ago before my birth

I knew my own eternal worth.

God my Father knows my name

In that knowledge is no shame!

He sent His son before my time

He taught us love, pure and sublime.

Many chose to turn away

For Satan taught them not to pray.

Jesus Christ knew what he must do

To save us all, he must stay true.

Tried and beaten, he endured it all

The beam he carried made him fall.

His body weak from so much pain

On the Calvary cross was lain.

Nails were driven through his hands

And feet where he would stand.

All of this he did of His own will

So all our hearts His love would fill.

Once His work on earth was done

He gave up the ghost, the vic’try won.

Heaven and earth cried out in grief

It seemed that we’d get no relief.

Storms and darkness filled the earth

Is this all that our lives are worth?

Three days later hope was born

As Christ returned no longer torn.

For everything he did for all

Ill praise His name while standing tall!
